Hello, I’m Maxine. I enjoy working with clients who experience anxiety and depression to uncover underlying experiences that cause them to doubt themselves and impact their sense of worth. I work with my clients to increase their self efficacy to handle the challenges that life throws their way.
My style as a therapist is founded in the belief that everyone has strengths and that we are all a sum total of our experiences. Emotional healing often begins with validation and empathy and understanding that ‘we all have a story. I am a coach who will help you craft a healthier version of you empowered with new tools to be that ‘good fit’ for your environment or sphere of influence.
I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, writing, dancing, listening to gospel and reggae music, as well as spending time by the water and in open green outdoor spaces. My life’s philosophy is to leave the world better than I found it.
I received my Masters degree in social work from the University of Southern California. I am an independent clinically licensed social worker in Washington, DC and Maryland. I thrive in using the strengths-based approach to help people value their own internal resources and resilience, sharpen old tools and increase their repertoire of coping skills to manage everyday stressors, crises, and other challenging life circumstances. I’m also trained in evidence-based practices to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and low self-esteem.
